ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN SINGER SARGENT (American, 1856-1925) FIGURES OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. Unsigned watercolor on board scene shows a number of people outside a building with arched doorways and tall windows. A large tree obscures a view of the water and another building. Housed in a modern gilt wood frame with linen matte having a gold edge behind glass. The back having a Coe Kerr Gallery, NY label. This watercolor was in the process of being researched at the time of Mr. Woolworth’s death. SIZE: 10-1/2″ x 14-1/2″. Sight: 9-3/4″ x 13-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store). CONDITION: Examined out of frame. Very good. 9-23492 (5,000-10,000)
