CHAUNCEY IVES PILLAR & SCROLL MAHOGANY MANTEL CLOCK. Mid 19th century. Connecticut. Painted wood dial with Arabic chapter ring centered by scrolling spandrels. Original wood works with 40 teeth and escape wheel. Case retains original paper label on which Chauncey is spelled incorrectly. Door with eglomise panel. Case with swan’s neck pediment alternating with urn-form spire finials. Case flanked with free standing colonnettes, raised on tapering feet centering shaped apron. Clock is offered with pendulum and two weights. SIZE: 31″ h x 16-1/2″ w x 4-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Wooden works in good condition, dial with original paint, restoration to swan’s neck cresting, finials are reproductions, eglomise tablet with extensive wear and losses. 9-24862 (800-1,200)
