EARLY AMERICAN TWO DRAWER BLANKET CHEST IN RED WASH. Third quarter 18th century. The rectangular hinged top with applied molded edge opening to a well in the conforming case. The case with two aligned simulated drawers over a simulated long drawer above two long drawers all with thumb molded edges. The base with stepped applied molding above a shaped and scalloped apron continuing to bracket feet. SIZE: 44-3/4″ h x 34-1/2″ w of case, 36-1/4″ w overall x 17-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Chest retains early red wash over traces of original gray. Hinges, backboards and feet original. Turned wooden pulls appear original. Corresponding pulls on simulated drawer fronts absent. 9-20697 (1,000-1,500)
