PILLAR AND SCROLL MAHOGANY SHELF CLOCK, ELI TERRY, CONNECTICUT. Circa 1826. The swan’s neck pediment alternating with spire and urn brass finials above the rectangular case, the door with eglomise panel depicting a river with manor house, opening to the square painted dial with scrolling gilt spandrels, time-and-strike apertures, and chapter ring with Arabic numerals, with 30-hour wooden movement, flanked by free-standing columns above the scalloped and shaped apron on slender feet. SIZE: 30″ h. x 17-1/2″ w. x 4-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine southern Maine collection. CONDITION: Case with old dry surfaces. Dial, works, and labels original. Eglomise panel is a later hand-done replacement. Works in need of restoration. Overall very nice example. 9-94140 (1,000-2,000)
