FINE STATE OF MAINE SHERATON BIRCH CHEST OF DRAWERS. Circa 1840. The rectangular top with turret corners fitted with a shaped splashguard, the case with four reverse-graduated long drawers flanked by engaged three-quarter ropetwist and ring-turned pilasters, continuing to turned legs with ring-turned collars on pointed feet. Chest in early red wash. SIZE: 39-3/4″ h. x 42″ w. x 20″ d. 44-3/4″ h. to backsplash. CONDITION: Very good overall, brass hardware of the period but not original to the chest. Good color and patina, no restoration or damages. 9-99849 (1,200-1,800)
