JEAN MAURICE THIBON (French, 19th Century) A FAMILY OF CHICKENS. Oil on canvas scene shows eighteen colorful chickens in an interior barn setting with dirt and straw floor. In the foreground is a feeding dish with five chicks and hen. Light cascades through an unseen window on the left, partially lighting the scene. Signed lower right “J Thibon”. Housed in a modern gilt frame with linen liner. SIZE: 17″ x 21″. PROVENANCE: From a Portland, Maine area Estate. CONDITION: Five small patches to reverse, 1-1/2″ open crease on left margin, craquelure. Minor touch up, otherwise very good. 9-22408 (1,000-1,500)
