SIGNED AND UNSIGNED (British School, 19th century) TWO ANCESTRAL PORTRAITS. Both identically housed in period wide gesso decorated gilt wood frames. 1) Half portrait of a man wearing black coat and white shirt. Signed “James Catt. 1884”. 2) Half portrait of a woman wearing a black dress, white lace bonnet with gold pocket watch at lapel and red stone jewelry at top of collar scarf and bonnet. She wears wire rimmed glasses and the painting is unsigned. An old written tag on back of stretcher “Mrs. Joshua Rea Grandmother of Russell Rea”. SIZE: 30″ x 25″. CONDITION: Relined with some restoration and inpainting and craquelure. 9-97889 (2,000-3,000)
