IMPORTANT CARVED MAHOGANY EAGLE LECTERN. Late 19th century. Fine well-carved example of displayed eagle mounted on a sphere now on a square mahogany short pedestal with molded plinth. Originally designed as a lectern, book rest section now absent. Carved overall with well delineated plumage and with lifelike talons. Short square fluted column; a suitable display platform. SIZE: 42-1/2″ h overall. 30-1/2″ h of carving. 32″ wingspan. CONDITION: With nicely polished old surfaces and with dark rich patina. Structurally very fine. 7-70005 (10,000-15,000)
