TABRIZ CARPET, NORTHWEST PERSIA. Circa 1900. The central stepped and poled ivory medallion with crenelated edges within a blue/black field of dense blue and blue/gray floral trelliswork within medium pink spandrels of dense conforming latticework. The main ivory border within multiple guard borders. The end with an ivory panel containing the signature and date of maker. SIZE: 16′ 11″ x 10′ 11″. PROVENANCE: Estate of Nancy H. Woods, Boothbay, Maine. CONDITION: With losses to selvage and fringe. Even wear throughout. One end with slightly more wear, but with good pile throughout. Carpet has an overall muted, dark palette. 9-20931 (2,000-3,000)
