GUS WILSON BLACK DUCK IN ORIGINAL PAINT. Augustus Wilson was a lighthouse keeper in South Portland, Maine. He spent much of his days carving the birds bobbing in the water beneath him. This black duck with raised, carved wings and carved eyes has an inletted head and a very interesting patch in the underside rear of the duck which was made at the time that Wilson made the duck (obviously to fill a knothole).
