E. MICHEL CAMEO VASE. This spectacular sculptural cameo vase features light green stems and leaves extending from the foot against a simple frosted background. The stems support a heavily padded and deeply carved amethyst iris. The detail and depth of the iris flowers is absolutely outstanding. The vase is further decorated with padded and wheel carved buds in various stages of bloom. We have never had a piece of cameo glass with this much depth of carving which gives the vase a wonderful sculptural appeal. The vase is finished with a green band around the lip which is wheel carved to represent overlapping iris leaves. Vase is unsigned but undoubtedly the work of E. Michel.
