GROUP OF THREE SAMPLERS. 19th century. The first wrought by Harriet Ann Emery in 1834. Wrought with rows of letters and numbers above four lines of verse above a country home flanked by stylized trees, all within a nicely wrought floral border in shades of pale blue and cream mounted within a Victorian walnut frame. The second a sampler of verse and prayers wrought by Mary Ann E. Topham, Cambridge. All within a scrolling finely wrought floral border. The third a pictorial sample beneath lines of alphabet and verse depicted with bowl of fruit, flowering plants within urns, a crown, deer in a landscape, and a dog. Embroidered with the name “usannah” within a scrolling border. SIZE: 1) Sight: 16″ x 17-1/4″. 2) Sight: 15-3/4″ x 15-3/4″. 3) Sight: 10″ x 9-1/2″. CONDITION: The first with staining in area of verse. The second with some minimal deterioration to foundation. The third with minor and minimal insect damage to foundation. All three with some toning, otherwise good. 9-29139 (1,000-2,000)
