SET OF 6 CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY CHAIRS, PROBABLY IRISH. Second half 18th century. The shaped crest rail with leaf-carved crest, the upswept ears leaf-tip carved and molded. Above the pierced urn form leaf-carved splat joined to the trapezoidal slip seat, the armchair with serpentine arm on incurved molded supports raised on frontal square molded and chamfered legs, the rear legs backswept and chamfered joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: (back)38″ h; (seat) 17-1/2″h. CONDITION: All chairs have been restored and re-finished. Several seat blocks professionally replaced. 9-93223 (3,600-6,000)
