FINE HORSE & JOCKEY MOLDED COPPER WEATHERVANE. Last quarter 19th century, New England. Rendered with a zinc head and upright rider with extended arms and overall old gilt surfaces with verdigris. Offered with a museum stand. Note: Several companies and individuals made variations of this weathervane. An example of arms and upright position of rider similar to this is best illustrated in “The Art of the Weathervane”, by Steve Miller illustrated on pages 72-73. Similar weathervanes with upright riders are illustrated in the 1893 J.F. Fiske catalog of 1893 models #19 and #515. SIZE: 17″ h x 32″ l. CONDITION: Surfaces as noted. No restoration noted.
