ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM MATHEW PRIOR (American, 1806-1873) PAIR OF CHILD PORTRAITS. Unsigned oil on board portraits of young children as follows: 1) Boy holding a rose and wearing a white Christening gown. 2) Boy holding what looks to be a fishing pole wearing a green dress with lace collar. Both have cut rounded corners and are housed in antique mahogany frames. SIZE: 16″ x 12″. PROVENANCE: From a Southern Maine Collection, purportedly found in the Central Maine area in the 1960’s. CONDITION: 1) Generally very good with a couple of creases in board. Surface dirt, untouched. 2) Crease with opening along fishing pole and slight warp in area, nail hole at top, surface dirt, untouched. 9-94112 (8,000-12,000)
