JOSEPH SEMPLE (British, fl. 1860-1880) SHIP PORTRAIT OF “THE CATHERINE FULLARTON”. Oil on canvas of a British schooner having two-masts and sails up flying the British flag and ship pennant. It sails right to left and six crewmen can be seen on deck. A pilot boat is leading them into the harbor with a steamship off the stern under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower right “J Semple Pinx Belfast, 1864″. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt fancy frame. SIZE: 20-1/4″ x 31-1/4”. CONDITION: Relined, restored with inpainting. 9-20271 (3,000-5,000)
