CARLO CIAPPI (Italian, 19th/20th Century) TWO GENRE WORKS. 1) Oil on canvas scene shows a man seated on a wine barrel while four boys play a make-do band, one drums a copper kettle, one plays cymbals with pot lids, another toots a funnel, and another boy has a baton as conductor. The interior is set with one-drawer table, plate rack, fireplace, and cassone. Signed with initials lower left. Housed in its original gilt gesso decorated frame with liner. 2) Oil on canvas scene shows a mother with seven children, one has a bunch of grapes, others are watching a make do puppet show by one of the girls. The mother knits as she watches over the children. Interior set with household belongings. Signed lower left. Housed in a fine gilt fancy frame with gilt liner.
