HARRY E.J. BROWNE (European, 19th Century) THE SULTAN’S HAREM. Large oil on canvas interior scene shows a partially clad young woman with long golden hair reclining on a long blue & white brocade upholstered sofa. She holds a palm fan in one hand. Another young woman is seen playing a lute and dressed in a light blue gown. An inlaid tabaret table holds a clear glass vase with pink & white flowers. A decorative wall backdrop & Oriental rug floor covering. Signed lower left. Housed in its original gold gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 30″ x 60″. CONDITION: Old wax relining with some modern inpainting, restored. In very good condition. 9-22747 (20,000-25,000)
