RARE EARLY AMERICAN COIN SILVER TEAPOT. 18th century, American, possibly that of Paul Revere or his father. The teapot of conical or lighthouse form, the scrolling spout decorated with leaftip and lappet, the S-scrolled ebony handle mounted to scrolling silver mounts, the whole on a molded stepped base, the center with the hallmark REVERE in block capitals within a rectangle. DISCLAIMER: Although the hallmark initially appears to be correct for that of Paul Revere, there are small inconsistencies with the hallmark as presented. Additionally, the teapot itself is stylistically incorrect for one of this time period, but rather a form 20-30 years earlier which lends credence to the possibility of Paul Revere Sr. SIZE: 7-1/2” h. x 4” dia. of base. CONDITION: Small crease at left of handle beneath hinged top, additional small dents to right of handle. Underside of teapot beneath handle has evidence of some form of hammered restoration. Otherwise very good overall. 9-99628 (1,000-2,000)
