COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 126271. Cal. 41 Colt. Blue & color case hardened with 5-1/2″ bbl, slightly altered front sight and 1-line block letter address. Bottom of bbl has a small “41” under base pin, left side of frame has 3-line patent dates and left front web of trigger guard is stamped with caliber marking. Mounted with 2-pc rampant Colt/eagle hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as found, shipped to Colt’s Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Co., Hartford, Connecticut on May 18, 1888 in a shipment of six same type revolvers. This unusual shipping address undoubtedly indicates something special such as a factory pickup or special shipment by a company official. PROVENANCE: David Crocker Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 75-80% glossy orig blue with one area on left side near the frame a blue/brown patina. Frame & hammer retain most of their orig factory case colors, moderately faded but brilliant in sheltered areas. Cyl is mostly a thin blue/brown patina with strong blue in the flutes. Grips are sound showing very light wear with a few minor chips in edges. Hammer is not solid in half cock or safety notches, otherwise mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-36838 JR6 (4,000-6,000)
