GIOVANNI SIGNORINI (Italian, 1808-1858) ANIMAL KINGDOM. Outstanding oil on canvas nature landscape shows a grassy topped rocky stream bank having a group of animals and birds resting. The animals include seven large deer, rabbit, porcupine, three ducks, an egret, white ibis and woodpecker. This scene is all encompassed in a mountain and tree landscape under white and blue sky. Signed lower right and dated “1850”. Housed in a period decorated gilt frame. The canvas signed on reverse “Giov. Signorini Firenzy 1850”. Also a exhibition label of “Paintings Kept By Signor F. De Tivoli”. SIZE: 20-1/2” x 26-1/4”. CONDITION: Several old canvas patches to reverse, inpainting, old restoration with some unattended splits, craquelure, generally intact.
