19TH CENTURY WALLPAPER ROOM PANEL. Circa 1820. The scene represents the Garden of Beaujon with its windmill, an outskirt village of Paris. This was produced by Paulot et Carre in a very limited edition. The panel is woodblock printed in small joined papers measuring approximately 15″ x 20″ which was a technique used until about 1830. Believed to be a segment of a scenic panorama called either “Environs de Paris”, “Vue des Maisons et Jardins de Paris” or “Jardins de Saint-Cloud”. The scenic was composed of 30 strips of paper which this and the previous lot are approximately equivalent to 8 strips. SIZE: 64″ h x 66″ l. CONDITION: The wallpaper has been affixed to a linen backing and stretched on a wood stretcher. There are some stains, cracks, and some surface losses but generally very good considering its age. 9-24832 (1,000-2,000)
