GIMBALED BRASS MARINE BAROMETER. Mid 19th century, Liverpool, England. Made by Joseph Sewill (1813-1895). The silvered scale marked “No 615” mounted to a double brass gimbal. Brass tube marked with a plaque “SEWILL/MAKER/TO THE ROYAL NAVY/LIVERPOOL.” Tube barometer joined to ivory Fahrenheit scale. SIZE: Tube: 37″ h. Bracket including mounting board: 15″ l. CONDITION: Metal surfaces with slight corrosion. Gimbal functional. Glass tubes appear intact. 9-26465 (2,000-3,000)
