Folio, front and rear contemporary blind stamped leather boards detached. Complete with the Frontis, portrait (reinforced at hinge) and the double fold map (all very good). COMPLETE with more than 200 plates including 17 folding plates, 25 full page engravings. There is general time toning and minor foxing. There is a clean tear to folding plate 143 with insignificant loss. There is a tear to page 130 with no loss and a large clean tear with no significant loss to plate 98. le Bruyn, the Dutch artist and renowned traveler began this adventure in 1678. The magnificent plates are among the best representations of Alexandria, Rhodes, Bethlehem, Constantinople, and the other great destinations of the Levant.
