STAFFORDSHIRE ENOCH WOOD BUST OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, 1818. A quarter length Staffordshire pottery bust modeled of George Washington, after a model by Enoch Wood, early 19th century. The leader depicted in full maturity with curly wig tied at the back, wearing a buttoned jacket with high collar which hangs open to reveal a yellow vest, and a white jabot tied round his neck, all supported on a bow-front socle. Incised medallion verso: ” Washington, Born 1732, Died 1799, Enoch Wood, Scupt.” SIZE: 8-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Old professional repair to base. 9-28255 (300-400)
