CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY CHIPPENDALE CHERRY SLANT LID DESK. Fourth quarter 18th century. The rectangular dovetailed case with sloping hinged shell carved lid with doweled breadboard ends opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of document drawers beneath a row of valanced cubby holes centering a shell carved document drawer, all over a bank of 4 graduated thumb molded long drawers, the uppermost flanked by lopers, all with original brass willow hardware. The desk raised on a molded base with scalloped apron on bracket feet. SIZE: 44-1/2″ h x 36-1/4″ w case x 18-1/4″ d overall. CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished, retaining original backboards. Proper right rear top corner missing dovetail. Proper right side lid interior with patch at outside corner. Other small and minor restorations throughout. Very nice color. 9-98060 (2,500-3,500)
