J.A. DEWSON (First half of the 19th Century) PAIR OF ANCESTRAL PORTRAITS. Both oil on canvas portraits identically housed in modern gilt molded wood frames. Half portrait of a gentleman with brown coat standing with hands clasped at chest with a book shelf with books background. The other a half portrait of a young woman in fancy green dress with lace collar and bonnet. She has a coral multi-strand necklace and decorative oval pin and ring. On the relining is inscribed “Painted by J.A. Dewson 1828″. SIZE: 28″ x 23-1/4”. CONDITION: Relined, inpainting craquelure, restored. Good. 9-98596 (5,000-7,000)
