ROSWELL GLEASON (American, 1821-1870) 7-PC PEWTER COMMUNION SET. Mid 19th century, Dorchester, MA. Consisting of a lidded flagon applied with an S-scroll handle of flared cylindrical form with midbanding and stepped base. The four chalice form cups on footed pedestal bases, a variation of the “thistle” form. The two communion plates with concave rims. The flagon with the touchmark “R. GLEASON”. The four cups unmarked. The communion plates with the touchmark “ROSWELL GLEASON / 1”. SIZE: Flagon 9-3/4″ h. Cup 6-1/4″ h. Plate 10-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Flagon is overall very good with the pitting in lid. The cups with minor pitting and some small dents, most notably on footed base rim of one cup. The plates with minor denting on interior edges, some surfaces scratches, pitting and small nicks in center of plates. 9-99569 (5,000-8,000)
