*RARE SPECIAL ORDER LATE FIRST GENERATION COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. SN 347847. Cal. 45 Colt. Blue & color case hardened with 7-1/2″ bbl, full front sight and block letter address with caliber marking on left side. Left side of frame has 2-line, 3-patent dates and rampant Colt. It is, most unusually, mounted with smooth 2-pc oil finish walnut grips. SN was observed in usual place on bottom of frame and on right side of front & back straps under grip. Last two digits of SN are on rear face of cylinder. Accompanied by its orig hinged lid, dark maroon box which is serial numbered to this revolver. Also accompanied by a special instructions pamphlet. The end label is usual black & white identifying this revolver with 7-1/2″ bbl in caliber 45 with the addition of a narrow blue & white over-label marked “WOOD BLUE”. While wood grips are not uncommon this late in production they are most uncommon without medallions which were introduced in 1907. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains most of its orig factory finish, both blue & case colors. Left side of bbl is slightly thinned with a couple of small spots of pitting. Frame & hammer retain about all of their orig case colors, brilliant in front flutes of frame, sides & edges of hammer and inside frame & loading gate with other areas lightly to moderately faded. Screws retain about all of their orig blue. Cyl shows little evidence of ever having been fired and retains about all of its orig blue with slight sharp edge wear and a light cyl line. Grip frame retains most of its orig blue with a couple of small scratches on back strap with dulled blue on front strap & trigger bow. Grips are sound & retain about all of their orig factory oil finish. Hammer is not solid in half cock notch, otherwise mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Box has one broken top corner & a small repair in lid, otherwise is completely sound with a few minor nicks & scratches and a couple of minor losses on lid with light to moderate soil. 4-36393 JR104 (7,500-12,500)
