SOLON FRANCIS MONTECELLO BADGER (American, 1873-1919) PORTRAIT OF THE SHIP “LOTTIE B. RUSSELL”. Oil on canvas ship portrait shows the black hulled three-mast schooner sailing right to left with eight men on deck. The ship name emblazoned on the bow and stern. Ship is shown in full sail with a lighthouse and low land mass in background. American flag flies off back mast, a ship banner and two other flags are seen. Signed lower left “SFM Badger”. Also signed and dated “’5” (1905) on back. Housed is its original gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 22″ x 36″. CONDITION: Some inpainting, very good. 9-72001 (10,000-12,500)
