FINE NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE CHERRY & MAPLE HIGHBOY. Last quarter of the 18th Century, probably Connecticut River Valley. In two-parts, the upper case with concave molded cornice fitted with two banks of molded short drawers centering a fan-carved central drawer, all above four graduated thumb-molded long drawers fitted to the mid-molded lower case. The long upper drawer above three aligned short drawers, the center most fan carved above an astragal arched apron, concave at the center, and fitted with urn-form pendant finials, the whole raised on angular cabriole legs terminating in circular pad platform feet. It should be noted that the fan carvings have exceptional, delicate, three-dimensional elements. SIZE: 76-1/2″ h x 36″ case w; 40″ overall w x 21-3/4″ overall d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished with mellow honey-brown patina. Hardware old if not original and in original holes.
