FINE LOG CALIPER WITH WHEEL. Mid 19th century. Attributed to C. W. Grover, Caratunk, Maine. Most Grover wheels are not marked. This example mounted at one end with a ten-spoke wheel tipped with spikes. The opposing caliper jaws fitted to a brass support. The rail with calibration markings. SIZE: 44-1/2″ l x 27″ w overall. CONDITION: Tool fine overall condition and totally original. Surfaces worn from normal use, with very good patina. Incised calibration marks are all clear. 9-98705 (1,000-1,500)
