EARL CUNNINGHAM (American, 1893-1977) “MOCK UP NO 3 1949 ST AUGUSTINE FLA”. Oil on paper laid on corrugated cardboard scene shows a stepped peninsula of land with three New England style houses, a green lawn with high grass at edges. Two tropical trees supporting three pelicans each. The upper tier of the peninsula has a connected white and red house with six triangular topped green trees and two other tropical style green trees. The sea in shades of yellow and gold, supporting two, three-masted schooners with blue sails in foreground and three white sailed ships beyond. A slight change to orange and pink, separates sky and sea. Signed lower left, “Earl Cunningham”. Housed in a modern shadow-box type black frame with glass front and back Lucite window which shows the title in pencil. SIZE: (sight) 15″h x 35-1/2″w. PROVENANCE: Recently found in a New England home. CONDITION: Some losses to edges and small edge tears. Generally good. 9-93102 (8,000-12,000)
