UNSIGNED (English School, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE SHIP “”TOM HENRY” OF NEW QUAY-CAPT J. CLEMENS”. Gouache and watercolor portrait shows the black-hulled schooner sailing right to left with full sails. A blue & white ship’s pennant from back mast and flying British flag. The name emblazoned on the bow and six crew members are seen on deck. Two other sailboats are seen with white crested blue waves. On left is seen a green peninsula with double lighthouses and building. Bottom legend with title in black cursive writing. Housed in an antique birdseye maple ogee frame with gold liner and modern brown matte behind glass. SIZE: Sight: 21-1/2″ x 30″. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home.
