FINE NEW ENGLAND SHERATON INLAID MAHOGANY CARD TABLE. Circa 1840, Boston. The shaped hinged top with serpentine ends and elliptic front, the edges with checkerboard string inlays above the conforming frieze. With figured mahogany panels and central tiger maple panel with crossbanded border. Raised on tapered cylindrical reeded legs with ring-turned cuffs. Terminating in slender, swelled feet. Each leg headed by a rectangular panel of figured maple or birch. SIZE: 29-1/2″ h x 35-1/2″ w x 17-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, NJ. CONDITION: With old, polished surfaces retaining original blocks. The primary top with old diagonal break at rear, proper right corner along grain. Otherwise good. 9-28203 (2,000-3,000)
