FREDERICK RICHARDS PICKERSGILL (British, 1820-1900) “THE RELUCTANT BRIDE”. Large oil on canvas interior church scene shows a minister in front of couple with mother and father looking on. Bride looks away with questioning look as the proceedings go forward. Colorful interior scene includes stained glass windows, carpet and costumes. The setting, with hats on the ground and no guests, indicates possibly a hastily arranged event. Signed lower right “F.R. Pickersgill”. Housed in a fancy carved wood frame. SIZE: 28” x 36”. CONDITION: Canvas has at least six patches to back and has restoration to front. Fair to good. 9-94165 (3,000-5,000)
