SHERATON CARVED MAHOGANY SETTEE. Circa 1840, probably Massachusetts. The rectangular overupholstered back joined to downturned arms faced with reeded sides, the grips downturned on swelled reeded and ring-turned supports centering the overupholstered seat with bowed seat rail raised on eight legs, the front swelled and reeded with ring-turned cuffs, the rear square and tapering. Settee covered with floral brocade. SIZE: 35″ h of back x 71″ l. PROVENANCE: Red Jacket Antiques, Brewster, MA. Date of purchase 1989. Invoice states: “Illustrated in Israel Sack catalog, #29 p.37 item #P4365”. CONDITION: Very good with original surfaces. Proper left front leg loose at joint, in need of tightening. 9-28216 (300-400)
