RARE RHODE ISLAND WINDSOR FAN-BACK ARMCHAIR. Late 18th century. The arched crest with upswept ears above 7 spindles flanked by ring and reed turned stiles. The arms with small paddle grips on raked turned supports. Note unique raked supports next to stiles. The shaped, elliptical poplar saddle seat raised on splayed turned legs joined by conforming H-form stretcher. SIZE: 46-1/4″ h of back, 18-1/2″ h of seat. CONDITION: Maple, ash and hickory example retains old finish. Structurally very good. 9-25663 (1,800-2,600)
