UNSIGNED (American, Mid 19th Century) PAIR OF ANCESTRAL PORTRAITS. Both identically housed in gilt period liners. Both oil on canvas depicting half portraits seated in a red rod-back Windsor chair. The woman wears a light green dress and wears a lace bonnet with trailing tie. The man with black coat, white shirt and black bow-tie. Each having an owner’s name on frame “Mrs. George L. Rush, Louisville, KY” and one having a change of address sticker, Columbia, MD. The back canvas appears to have writing which is obscured which may indicate the artist. SIZE: 28-1/4″ x 24″. CONDITION: Craquelure, some surface dirt, appear to be in untouched original condition. Otherwise very good. 9-20963 (4,000-6,000)
