ATTRIBUTED TO ASHER BROWN DURAND (AMERICAN, 1796-1886) THE CASCADING STREAM. Oil on canvas summer scene shows a small stream cascading across moss-covered rocks in a woodland area. in the foreground the stream has made a small pool and there are giant boulders and rocks lining the stream. The scene is framed with trees with blue sky beyond. Signed on the left bottom boulder, “ABD”. Housed in a fine antique-style, gilt gesso-decorated frame. SIZE: 26″ x 20″. CONDITION: Very good. Relined with aluminum back, inpainting. 9-97141 (6,000-8,000)
