UNUSUAL REMINGTON 1861 (OLD ARMY) PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Perc. SN 3306. Civilian Model, blued finish, 8” oct bbl with crisp markings, dovetail cone front sight, loading lever with fillister retaining screw, brass trigger-guard, & 2-pc smooth walnut grips. No inspector marks except “B” on left side of triggerguard. Some initials are carved on the bottom of the grips. This revolver was produced in early 1863 at Remington’s newly established Utica, NY revolver factory. It is rare in that most of the factory production was committed to military contract & inspection and the revolver bears no such marks. It does not appear to be a reject and was most likely sold directly to a state militia. CONDITION: Very good with 25% orig blue, mostly on the cyl and mixed with light surface rust. Grips have chips at the bottom on the right side and minor handling marks elsewhere. Bore is lightly pitted, mechanically fine. 4-59372 JH128 (2,500-3,500)
