NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL MAHOGANY LOLLING CHAIR. Circa 1800. The canted rectangular over-upholstered back with serpentine crest rail, joined to shaped arms on incurved supports centering the rectangular over-upholstered seat, raised on square molded tapering legs. The rear legs backswept, raised on brass-capped casters. SIZE: 38-1/2″ back h. 15″ seat h. Overall width: 24″. PROVENANCE: From the private collection and estate of Robert Nugent, Glenridge, New Jersey. CONDITION: Structurally very good, exposed surfaces polished, frame beneath covering not examined. 9-28222 (1,500-2,000)
