GALLE ENAMELED COVERED JAR. Wonderful Galle covered jar has vertical swirling ribs and is decorated with subtle colored enamel flowers with a Dutch windmill scene in the background. The iris flowers are done in subtle purples, cream and gold having some pink highlights. The jar is finished with a matching ribbed and enameled lid and is signed on the underside with lovely floral signature in brown enamel “Emile Galle Fecit”. SIZE: 6-1/2″ dia x 5″ t. PROVENANCE: A gift to the Maine State Museum being sold to benefit the museum’s acquisition fund. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 5-61938 (1,000-1,500)
