ORTON-SPOONER CHICKEN OR COCKEREL CARVED & PAINTED CAROUSEL FIGURE. Late 19th century, England. This brightly polychrome-painted figure of a strutting cockerel carved with full plumage and fitted with a scrolled saddle, now mounted on wooden stand. This carousel figure restored by Peter Dean to original paint colors. SIZE: 34-1/2″ h. of figure x 35″ l. CONDITION: Very good structural condition, with shrinkage cracks at seams and on breast. Figure retains early painted surfaces. Any later repainting is hard to detect due to the professional paint restoration done by Mr. Dean. 9-99636 (4,000-5,000)
