THREE CHINESE EXPORT BOWLS AND FINE LOTUS LEAF SHALLOW BOWL. Last quarter 18th Century through mid-19th Century. The first and largest, an armorial 10″ bowl, the second with a floral decorated reserve and ridged 10″ body, the third floral decorated overall with chrysanthemums and floral sprays of 7-1/2″ diameter. The shallow bowl of 12″ diameter with pink lotus blossom-shaped edges centering a reserve of flowering tree branches. An example of similar design is found on the cover of “CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN, AN HISTORICAL SURVEY” edited by Elinor Gordon and a nearly identical plate is featured in the Magazine Antiques, Sept. 1977 illustrated in a full page advertisement of Elinor Gordon, page 387. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Estate (F.W. Woolworth Dept. Store). CONDITION: The first bowl with large area of restoration on side of bowl with an additional break. The second example with rim chips. The small bowl very good overall and the shallow bowl with discoloration from water damage around border of central reserve. Otherwise very good. 9-21368 (800-1,200)
