FINE CLASSICAL REVIVAL KINGWOOD PEDESTAL DESK. Late 19th century, England. In the style of C. Mellier & Co. The rectangular top with crossbanded and molded edges centering a burgundy leather inset writing surface with tooled and gilded borders. The frieze fitted with three aligned molded and paneled drawers. One frieze end fitted with baise-lined secretarial slide. The top fitted to rectangular pedestal supports, each with a bank of three short drawers joined at the rear by a paneled modesty board, all on stepped molded plinths. SIZE: 31″ h x 55″ l x 29-1/2″ w. PROVENANCE: From a private Manhattan collection. John Bly Antiques, High St. Tring, Hertfordshire, U.K. CONDITION: Very good with original polished surfaces. Professionally cleaned and repolished.
