HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY ARCHITECT’S DESK. First third 19th century, England. The hinged rectangular lid with tooled leather insert, the back with three-quarter gallery opening to interior well fitted with six compartments centered by a cupboard door. The desk front with three aligned simulated drawers, each side with a pullout writing slide raised on square chamfered tapered legs terminating in brass capped casters. SIZE: Overall: 35-1/2″ h. Desk surface at front: 31″ h. Width: 41″. Depth: 28″. CONDITION: Writing surface old if not original. Wood surfaces professionally repolished. Otherwise very good. 9-29630 (2,500-4,500)
