UNUSUAL SHERATON TAMBOUR DESK CABINET. Circa 1840, Southern New England. This unique form with raised central cabinet fitted with tambour doors sliding open to reveal an arrangement of pigeon holes and small drawers behind a hinged lid opening to a tooled leather writing surface supporting by lopers over two deep long drawers flanked by reeded pilasters. The cabinet ends each with a demilune tambour section opening to compartments. The whole raised on tapered reeded cylindrical legs. SIZE: 50″ h x 59″ w x 24″ d. CONDITION: Generally good with minor old areas of restoration and with some losses to reeded trim on proper right end tambour. 7-70054 (5,000-7,000)
