AMES 1832 FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD. Fine artillery sword with 19-1/8″ hourglass shaped dbl edged blade and brass hilt with fish scale handle held by 3 iron rivets and has an oval pommel with eagle on each side. Blade has the Ames mark & date “1835” on ricasso. Accompanied by an orig black leather sheath with brass tip & throat. PROVENANCE: From a coastal New Jersey home. CONDITION: Very good. Blade retains much orig polish with some discoloration and scattered spots of rust with light rust near the handguard. Sheath is badly flexed at the tip with crackling on the body and missing about a 2-1/2″ piece near the upper end. 9-24232 (400-800)
