IMPORTANT FULL-BODIED CARVED FIGURE OF CLASSICAL MAIDEN. First half 19th century. Depicting a classical maiden with flowing robes holding bouquets of flowers in each hand and flowers in her luxuriant hair. Carved from the solid. SIZE: 67″ h. PROVENANCE: Richard Paine Estate, Seal Cove, ME. CONDITION: Now with old silvered paint over original gilt and painted surfaces, remnants showing beneath current paint surface. Structurally in very good condition, with minor losses to floral bouquet at top of head, an old repair to proper right forearm, and a small base repair. This is an excellent example and in remarkably well preserved condition. 9-92559 (5,000-10,000)
